Ohio Watershed Solutions is a small company with with a big mission- to improve and protect Ohio watersheds and the aquatic habitats within them.
But how did it all begin?
Born and raised in Bayview, Ohio; a small village that sits on the Sandusky Bay, I was constantly surrounded by coastal wetlands that feed into the great Lake Erie. When I was younger I took these beautiful habitats for granted and I didn’t realize it until following my dream to be a professional dancer and spending over one decade in Las Vegas; a habitat much different than the one I grew up in. After a fulfilling career in dance and traveling the world, I knew that my life had another calling.
I’ve always felt at peace being near the water and since my undergraduate education I’ve always been intrigued by science so I knew the next chapter of my life would combine the two.
Coincidently, I was accepted into graduate school at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and before I knew it I was moving back home to my roots. After pursuing my master’s degree in aquatic ecology my focus was on coastal wetlands and the importance they bring to our community and the world around us.
Dabbling in work for different government agencies, as well as environmental consulting firms, I figured out exactly where I needed to be; working for myself doing what I love most- protecting vulnerable habitats that are more important than most realize.
So here we are! I’ve learned how important water quality and aquatic habitats are not only for humans but for the environment around us, and creating natural and green infrastructure to improve the damage humans have brought on to the world is the way to create a dynamic relationship with our world so that everyone’s needs are met.
